About the Role:
We are seeking an Infrastructure Engineer with strong expertise in Git and a solid understanding of CI/CD to support our Matlab/Simulink domain experts. The focus of this role is to streamline version control practices, troubleshoot issues, and manage CI/CD processes, enabling our Simulink experts to concentrate on R&D and RPL support. You will act as the primary contact for Git and infrastructure topics, ensuring fast and effective support.
In this role, you will be responsible for training new colleagues in Git, addressing version control issues, and improving CI/CD best practices. Additionally, you'll support project teams with guidance on GitLab CI/CD configurations and serve as a "Git Police" to foster and uphold best practices in version control.
This position emphasizes support over development, with a path to grow into a DevOps role. We’re looking for someone with excellent communication skills, a good foundation in GitLab CI/CD, and ideally, a basic understanding of Simulink.
Key Responsibilities:
Training and Support: Train team members in Git and version control best practices, and provide support for troubleshooting Git issues and CI/CD configurations.
Version Control and CI/CD Management: Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and version control workflows, ensuring consistency and adherence to best practices.
Documentation and Improvement: Develop and document best practices for version control and CI/CD, and continually seek to improve these processes.
Collaboration: Work closely with Matlab/Simulink domain experts, testing architects, and the AWS and other infrastructure teams to ensure seamless project support.
Visibility and Communication: Act as a visible, go-to resource for version control and CI/CD topics, facilitating smoother workflows for the Simulink team.
Key Qualifications:
Git Expertise: Very good knowledge of Git, with experience training others and troubleshooting issues.
CI/CD Proficiency: Good understanding of GitLab CI/CD pipelines, including experience with configuration, limits, and best practices.
Communication Skills: Strong English communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and effectively.
Basic Simulink Knowledge (helpful but not required): Familiarity with Simulink and SimCaP environments.
Collaboration Skills: Ability to work with cross-functional teams, including AWS and infrastructure teams, and maintain effective communication channels.
Preferred Traits:
Proactive: An advocate for best practices who can foster improvements in infrastructure workflows.
Support-Oriented: Interested in supporting and empowering teams over development-heavy tasks, with a mindset open to growing into DevOps.
Problem Solver: Solutions-focused with a drive to address and resolve infrastructure challenges promptly.
